SARAH ANGSTMAN, PHD
PSYCHOLOGIST
Providing distance-delivered psychological services in Alaska and Montana
ABOUT ME
In my practice, I provide psychotherapy services via distance delivery for adults and adolescents.
I have worked most of my career conducting therapy and psychological evaluations with people in remote regions of Alaska. Since transitioning to telehealth services in 2022, I have extended my practice to work with clients across Alaska and Montana with a continued focus on providing care for people in rural and remote locations.
I completed my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Montana in 2009. As part of my training, I participated in a year-long predoctoral internship at the Alaska VA Healthcare System and a year of postdoctoral training at the Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation. I hold licenses to practice psychology in Alaska and Montana.
Individuals seeking services and referring providers can call me at (907) 545-5330 to get started.
SERVICES
PSYCHOTHERAPY
I conduct distance delivered assessments and treatment for adults and adolescents experiencing emotional and behavioral concerns, including depression, anxiety, anger, grief, trauma-related symptoms, relationship problems, and problems with substance use. I use a variety of cognitive behavioral therapeutic techniques individually tailored to my clients’ needs.
PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTING
I provide psychological testing services to evaluate and diagnose developmental, learning, and cognitive problems in children and adults. I am no longer accepting direct referrals for testing. Instead, I work on a contract basis with agencies who have a need for developmental or diagnostic testing for their patients or clients. Most often, my psychological evaluations are used to assess eligibility for developmental disabilities services, school-based services, vocational rehabilitation, or other needed services and supports. If your organization is interested in arranging this service, please reach out to me at 907-545-5330.
TEACHING, SUPERVISION AND CONSULTATION
I teach classes in psychology and rural practice at the high school, college, graduate and paraprofessional levels. I also provide consultation and supervision for mental health professionals and agencies. I am an approved LPC supervisor in Alaska.
